Our History:
In the late 1970s, a visionary idea emerged—to honor the iconic golf legend, Donald Ross, by creating a new street bearing his name. This ambitious vision materialized in the development of Donald Ross Drive, along with its fifteen charming cul-de-sacs, in the early 1980s. Situated just a brief golf cart ride away and within easy walking distance of Donald Ross Drive lies the historic Village of Pinehurst.
By 1987, thirty homes had been meticulously constructed and occupied, with their proud owners eager to embark on their dreams in the heart of Pinehurst. The bond among these original thirty families was forged by their shared status as newcomers to North Carolina. From these early connections, the Donald Ross Area Association sprang to life. Since its inception, dedicated member boards and committees have tirelessly attended to the needs of our community, contributing significantly to the Donald Ross Area's ascent as one of Pinehurst's premier neighborhoods. In 1990, the residents of the "Ponds" area joined forces with the association, shaping the vibrant neighborhood we now cherish. Nestled among towering longleaf pines, our beloved community comprises 152 homes as of 2024.
Ours is a serene and secure enclave, inhabited by caring residents who have come together to form what has aptly been dubbed "Pinehurst's friendliest neighborhood." The Donald Ross area is more than just a neighborhood; it's a close-knit community where homeowners look out for one another, actively engage in enhancing their surroundings, and delight in shared moments of enjoyment.
