OUR ASSOCIATION
The Donald Ross Area Association (“DRAA”) is made up of the Donald Ross Area homeowners. It is governed by an elected Board of Directors whose charter is to foster a sense of camaraderie within the Donald Ross community, to keep members informed regarding issues that impact us as a neighborhood, and to help to ensure each resident’s complete and legal enjoyment of their property. Membership in The Donald Ross Area Association (“DRAA”) is an extremely important part of keeping our neighborhood beautiful and cohesive. The annual membership fee primarily supports the maintenance of the two entrances and the printing of the annual membership directory. The work of the Board of Directors in service to our community is accomplished through the efforts of the committees described below.
OUR MISSION
To promote and encourage the fellowship of all members through social activities, meaningful communication, and enhancement of the Donald Ross neighborhood.
SOCIAL COMMITTEE
An integral part of the DRAA is the Social Committee. The primary responsibility of the committee is to organize DRAA social events which may include, but are not limited to, the Annual Business Meeting in April (“Pine Pollen Party”); Ladies Wine and Cheese (usually in March); Fall Picnic (usually in September or October) and Holiday Party (usually in December). Thirsty Thursdays (a casual cocktail party hosted in the homes of our residents) have proven to be popular events and are usually held every 6 weeks as circumstances allow. In addition to overseeing the old favorites, those serving on the Social Committee are also involved in the planning and presentation of new events for the DRAA membership’s enjoyment. Participation in the events planned by the committee is an excellent way to meet and socialize with neighbors.
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
One of the Membership Committee’s chief responsibilities is to welcome new residents to the neighborhood. The Vice-President of the DRAA is in charge of the Welcoming Committee and will visit new residents and provide a welcome packet containing information regarding our area. Another responsibility of the Membership Committee is the production of the annual directory, which lists contact information for all members. The directory is distributed to all dues-paying members.
BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE
The Beautification Committee is primarily responsible for the design and maintenance of the entrances to Donald Ross Drive from McDonald Drive and Linden Road. These corners are the first impression of our neighborhood and keeping them neat and attractive is important to residents and visitors alike. The selection and care of plantings, seasonal décor, lighting, irrigation, and landscaping materials are all responsibilities of a dedicated team of volunteers and professionals.
COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
Communication is extremely important to the Board of Directors of the DRAA and is a means to send important messages, event news and schedules, and other information to the residents. The Communications Committee plays an integral role to this end, by ensuring that the website and social media programs are up-to-date and functioning. Other responsibilities include email communication to the DRAA residents as warranted and the maintenance of the look, feel, and ease of use of the Association’s website.
